About
I am a bilingual mental health practitioner with academic and clinical experience in trauma psychology, mind–body approaches, and cross-cultural mental health. I completed my BA in Psychology at Eastern Mediterranean University, where I began working with children, adolescents, and adults affected by trauma and emotional difficulties.
My professional background includes positions in both Turkey and the United Kingdom, providing culturally informed psychological support within community clinics, counselling centres, and low-cost therapy services. As an Assistant Psychologist at the Finsbury Therapy Hub, I supported migrant and multilingual clients with trauma, emotional regulation, and anxiety-related challenges. Additionally, as a Lecturer at International Dublin University, I taught undergraduate psychology courses and developed curriculum materials with a focus on trauma-informed and multicultural frameworks.
Currently, I operate my private practice, Janya Gulê, in London, where I provide accessible, culturally sensitive counselling. My therapeutic approach integrates Tension Myositis Syndrome (TMS) principles, trauma-informed care, and CBT-informed methods to address the complex interaction between emotional distress and somatic symptoms.
My academic and professional interests centre on trauma, mind–body processes, cultural determinants of mental health, and improving psychological service accessibility for minority and migrant communities. I also engage in community outreach through a weekly mental health radio programme in London, which aims to increase psychological literacy among Kurdish and Turkish-speaking audiences.
